What CSV formats are supported?

FileMint's converter supports any delimiter-separated format: standard CSV (comma), TSV (tab), semicolon-separated (common in European locales), and pipe-separated values. Select your delimiter in the options before converting.

How does header row detection work?

When 'First row is header' is enabled (the default), the first row of your CSV is used as property keys in the JSON objects. When disabled, columns are named col1, col2, col3, etc.

What happens with quoted fields?

Quoted fields (e.g. "Hello, World") are handled correctly — the quotes and any embedded delimiters within them are preserved. Escaped double-quotes ("" within a quoted field) are also supported per the RFC 4180 standard.

Can I convert large CSV files?

Accepted Answer

Yes, up to 10MB. Since the conversion runs entirely in your browser there are no server-side restrictions. For very large files (several MB), conversion may take a few seconds depending on your device.

What JSON structure is produced?

The output is a JSON array where each element is an object representing one row. Keys come from the header row and values are always strings (matching CSV's flat data model).
